Tokyo Nikko Day Trip: Toshogu Shrine, Lake Chuzenji & Kegon Falls

Toshogu Shrine is a lavishly decorated UNESCO World Heritage site in Nikkō, dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Kegon Falls is a stunning 97-meter waterfall in Nikko National Park, Tochigi Prefecture. It flows from Lake Chuzenji and is famous for its dramatic drop and beautiful surroundings, especially during autumn foliage and winter ice formations. Visitors can view the falls from an upper observation deck or take an elevator down to a closer lower deck. It’s easily accessible and a must-see natural attraction in the region.
