We begin the walk by passing through a modern commercial complex toward the Meguro River, where the urban scenery opens into a quiet waterside area enjoyed by local residents. It’s a gentle introduction to everyday life beyond the main streets.

Walking along the riverside, the experience begins to take its theme. This familiar setting makes subtle everyday behaviors easier to notice.

3

Stop 3

A small riverside gathering area where locals relax, talk, study, or spend time outdoors. We pause briefly to settle what has been noticed so far before continuing.

4

Stop 4

We may stop at a traditional neighborhood poultry shop with homemade takeaway foods before heading toward the temple and shrine area. Guests can optionally pick up a small bite and continue the walk at an easy pace.

5

Stop 5

50 min

One of Edo’s historic Five Fudo temples, with a small Shinto shrine just in front. Visiting both offers a glimpse into simple rituals such as purification and prayer, and how they fit naturally into everyday life in Japan.

6

Stop 6

A temple housing more than 300 “Rakan” — enlightened disciples of the Buddha. Rather than distant deities, these figures represent attainable wisdom and lived experience, which may explain why many Japanese quietly pay respects here. By this point, earlier observations often start to connect.

7

A traditional local shopping street where residents shop and dine. If you wish, we can step into a small local spot for an aperitif (own expense), where guests may share what they noticed during the walk — a relaxed way to close the experience.
