Sapporo: TV Tower Observatory & Illuminated Landmarks Night Tour

At night, Odori Park transforms into a beautifully illuminated promenade in the heart of Sapporo. Fountains, seasonal lights, and the glow of the surrounding city create a romantic atmosphere as you stroll toward the TV Tower. The highlight of the evening is the Sapporo TV Tower, rising at the eastern end of Odori Park. Built in 1957, the tower offers a 90-meter-high observation deck where you can enjoy panoramic night views. Below, Odori Park glitters with lights, while the city stretches endlessly around you. Often called a “million-dollar view,” the scene is one of Japan’s most celebrated nightscapes.

The Sapporo Clock Tower (Tokeidai), built in 1878, glows softly under the night lights. While the interior closes in the evening, the illuminated white wooden structure creates an atmospheric photo stop. Surrounded by modern buildings, it stands as a quiet symbol of the city’s pioneering past.

Affectionately known as the Red Brick Office (Akarenga Chosha), this landmark takes on a new charm after dark. Its 120-year-old red brick façade is dramatically lit against the night sky, offering a powerful impression of Hokkaido’s history. Though the museum is closed at night, the illuminated exterior is a must-see highlight and a perfect way to conclude the evening tour.
