Hokkaido: Sapporo Ramen Yokocho (Ramen Alley) Food Tour

In the heart of Susukino, Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho is the birthplace of Sapporo’s famous miso ramen and a legendary stop for noodle lovers. Along its narrow alley, ramen shops line up shoulder to shoulder, filling the air with the aroma of miso and rising steam. The alley began in the 1950s, when small stalls served hearty bowls to warm locals through harsh winters. Here, Sapporo’s miso ramen was born—rich, comforting, and perfectly suited to the north. Soon it became a must-try for visitors from across Japan and beyond. Today, the alley attracts everyone from locals to international travelers. Each shop has its own twist, from bowls topped with butter and corn to lighter modern variations. More than just food, Ramen Yokocho remains a symbol of Sapporo’s culture—best enjoyed under Susukino’s glowing neon lights.
