Sapporo Olympic Museum : Learn about the history of the Olympics, and be moved and entertained by the exhibits at this musuem, built in 1972 to commemorate the Sapporo Winter Olympics. Not only are there displays related to the Olympics, there are also corners where you can experience some of these winter sports for yourself and feel like an athlete participating in the games!

Okurayama Viewing Point : This was the ski jump venue for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, and is currently still in use in official ski jump competitions. Ascend to the top via the chair lifts and be mesmerised by the view of the Sapporo cityscape from high up, and have your breath taken away by the steep gradient of the ski jump!

Hokkaido Jingu : This Shinto shrine, representative of Hokkaido, was built as a place of worship for the settlers who first came to the island. At this shrine overflowing with nature, the three gods said to have created and developed the land, as well as the Meiji Emperor, are enshrined within, and it is also known as one of the best power-spots in Hokkaido.

Rokkatei Jingu-Chaya Branch (within Hokkaido Jingu) : Rokkatei, an established patissiere in Hokkaido and very popular as a souvenir, has many outlets across the island—this one is unique, being within the grounds of a Shinto shrine! In addition to their standard range of products, this shop offers a particular confectionary, Hankan-sama, that is sold only here. Be sure to get one fresh out of the oven and savour its delicious taste!

Maruyama Park : Maruyama Park, a famous cherry blossom spot, is an oasis for the citizens of Sapporo with the huge expanses of forests within its grounds. The forests, termed the "Maruyama Virgin Forests" have been designated as a national natural treasure, with its trees around 150 years old. Enjoy a relaxing stroll in the park as you immerse yourself in the nature of Sapporo.

Samurai Senbei : This shop's senbei, rice crackers, are made with 100% Hokkaido rice, and are very popular with the crowds. Made from three kinds of rice and each piece carefully toasted by hand, there are a wide range of flavours to choose from, ranging from the traditional to the new-fangled! The packaging, decorated with an illustration of a samurai, makes it ideal as a souvenir!
