The Senso-Ji temple is the most widely visited spiritual site in the world, drawing over 30 million visitors a year to Asakusa, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. According to another theory, the name might derive from the fact that during the Edo Period, six daimyōs, or feudal lords, lived in the vicinity, each of whose names included the character for “tree”.

The Imperial Palace is the residence of the Emperor of Japan, the only ruler in the world to still have this title, since there are no other empires in existence.
