Hiromine Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine with origins dating back nearly 2,000 years, and its main sanctuary was established in 734. Keiunji Temple is a historic Buddhist temple located in the Noyori district, an area that has flourished for centuries as a center of commerce and culture. It is especially known for the Hiyoku-zuka, a unique memorial site found only at this temple. The Hiyoku-zuka was created to honor two lovers who were unable to be united during their lifetimes. On this tour, their tragic love story—Onatsu and Seijuro—serves as an example through which visitors are invited to reflect on the idea of “eternal love” that transcends time, as embodied in this deeply moving memorial.
