Tokyo Toilet Tour
Some of the top names in the Japanese architecture joined a project to redesign public restrooms in Tokyo's Shibuya district. If you are fans of Japanese contemporary architecture, then this will allow for a quick sample of the different styles of each of the architects. The names include Tadao Ando
📍Meeting point: Outside the No. 3 Exit of the Yoyogi Koen Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, Station C02). You will see there is a park with one of the transparent toilet that is part of this project.
What To Expect
Stop 1
⏱ 30 minSee the toilets designed by Shigeru Ban (Transparent cubicle) and Toyo Ito, near a small Shinto Shrine. It's where the main character of the movie always had his lunch break.
Stop 2
⏱ 30 minSee the toilet designed by Tadao Ando in a location midway between Shibuya and Harajuku, an area that has seen major redevelopment in the last five years.
Stop 3
⏱ 5 minNot directly related to the project, but we will be going across the iconic intersection on our way to the next location.
Stop 4
⏱ 15 minToilet designed by Kengo Kuma in a quiet residential area about a kilometer away from the main station.
Stop 5
⏱ 30 minToilets by Fumihiko Maki, Kashiwa Sato and Nao Tamura in the Ebisu neighborhood, one station south of Shibuya.
