To start approaching the city, it is necessary to approach the empire, thus the imperial palace (Kyoto-Gosho), main residence of the emperors from 794 to 1868. We will see where the Japanese emperors lived, where they governed and where they practiced their religious ceremonies.

Nijo Castle represents the absolute power of the Shoguns in Kyoto. Nijo Castle (Nijo-jo in Japanese) was built for this purpose. Designed in 1603 by Tokugawa Ieyasu and completed in 1626, it served as the Kyoto residence of the Edo shoguns. We will visit this castle, Japan's political hotspot where important historical events took place. Then we will walk through the beautiful gardens.
