Stop 2
⏱ 1hSugino-baba Street is a 500-meter historic road leading from the Black Gate of Akizuki Castle. It was once lined with cedar trees, which gave the street its name. Today, the cedars are gone, but the street is famous for its seasonal beauty: cherry blossoms in spring and a tunnel of vibrant autumn leaves in fall. Lined with traditional shops and cafés, it is the highlight of any stroll through Akizuki Castle Town.

⏱ 30 minKuro-mon Gate The former main gate of Akizuki Castle, now a popular photo spot, especially during the autumn foliage season. Suiyō Shrine Located at the end of Sugino-baba Street, this shrine is surrounded by cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, offering beautiful scenery throughout the seasons.

⏱ 45 minAdmission includedAkizuki Samurai Residence – Hisano Residence A preserved samurai residence from the Edo period, featuring a traditional house and garden. Visitors can experience the atmosphere of samurai life. The garden is especially beautiful in autumn, making it a popular spot for photos, especially in kimono.

⏱ 45 minThe “Roman no Michi” area in Akizuki is a charming retro district where visitors can step back in time. Along this nostalgic street, you’ll find traditional wooden houses, antique shops, and cozy cafés that preserve the atmosphere of old Japan.
