Saijo is one of the three major sake brewing area in Japan. Within a roughly one-kilometer walking distance from Saijo Station, there are seven sake breweries. You can efficiently tour all the breweries in only two hours while listening to the English speaking guide's explanation about the history and sake of each brewery. You can also sample the sake recommended by each brewery. You can taste various types of sake, such as Daiginjo, Junmai, and Cloudy sake. Some of the breweries do not usually offer sake tasting on weekdays, so it is very valuable to be able to sample sake from all the breweries. If there is space available on the day of the tour, you can register up to 4 hours before the tour starts. Please come and find your favorite sake! *According to Japanese law, the legal drinking age is 20. Participants under 20, including infants, are not allowed to join. *This is a tasting tour. Please note that you will not be able to observe the sake brewing process.

Stop 1

Stop 2
⏱ 20 minKamotsuru is the pioneer in Ginjo sake brewing. Watching a 10 minute video introducing Sake making and Tasting Daiginjo-Type, " Daiginjo Gold Kamotsuru" @ Kamotsuru Visitor room.
Stop 3
⏱ 10 minFukubijin was called the Saijo Brewing School and has produced many outstanding mater brewers. Let's taste "Fukubijin Junmai-Shu." You can try warm Sake during winter season!
Stop 4
⏱ 15 minKamoizumi was one of the first breweries in Japan to begin brewing junmai-shu (pure rice sake) using only rice and koji mold as ingredients. Taste their signature product, "Junmai Ginjoshu 朱泉 Honjikomi."
Stop 5
⏱ 10 minDistributes brouchures, offers information about Sakagura-dori Street, and is stocked with souvenirs. Take a restroom break here.
Stop 6
⏱ 10 minKirei Shuzo is characterized by its dry taste compared to other Saijo sake. You will taste "Yoshidaya’s Sake," a limited sake blended by the brewery with sake that is ready to drink in that month.
Stop 7
⏱ 10 minSaijotsuru brews sake using traditional techniques passed down from generation to generation by Hiroshima sake brewers. You can taste "Junmai Daiginjo Genshu Shinzui" which has been repeatedly awarded by Monde Selection.
Stop 8
⏱ 15 minHakubotan is one of the oldest sake breweries in Hiroshima Prefecture. It was funded in 1675. You will have the opportunity to taste "Hyoka," which is unfiltered sake that has been fresh frozen in a special way, and plum wine soaked in Daiginjo-shu.
Stop 9
⏱ 15 minSanyotsuru is the only sake brewery located west of Saijo Station. You can try to taste cloudy sake and sake ware is also available for sale.
