⏱ 5 minThe Bank of Japan Hiroshima Branch is a historic building that survived the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Located close to the hypocenter, the building was heavily damaged but remained standing. It was one of the few reinforced concrete buildings to survive the blast. After the bombing, it was used as a temporary emergency shelter and played a role in Hiroshima’s recovery. Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience and is recognized as a hibaku building (atomic-bombed building).

⏱ 5 minThe Assumption of Mary Cathedral, also known as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Cathedral, is the main Catholic church in Hiroshima. It was built after World War II as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. The cathedral was designed by Japanese architect Togo Murano and completed in 1954. It was funded by donations from Catholics around the world, especially from Germany. The church stands near the center of Hiroshima, not far from the atomic bomb’s hypocenter, and serves as a place of prayer, reflection, and remembrance.
