You will thus understand the role of water and rain deities in Shinto, very important for Japan, a country surrounded by the sea and whose rain is essential for rice cultivation. This symbolic route is punctuated by stone lanterns. The forest is moist and cool. It will do you good especially during the Japanese summer! The spiritual atmosphere of the place accompanies you, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. On this half day you will learn more about Japan and its indigenous religion, Shinto. ⏱ 30 minThe village of Kibune (now administratively attached to the city of Kyoto) welcomes us. Its traditional Japanese houses line the Kibune River.
Stop 3
⏱ 30 minWe first go to Okumiya where Kuraokami and Takaokami, water deities, are revered. The Okumiya is considered the oldest and holiest site of the site.
Stop 4
⏱ 30 minWe go to Nakamiya, where the deity Iwanagahime is revered, associated with longevity, stability and permanence.
Stop 5
⏱ 30 minWe finally go to Honden, the main building where Kuraokami no Kami, the major deity of water, rain, clouds and the hydrological cycle, is revered.
