Stop 1
⏱ 2h 20mAdmission includedOpen only once a year for about six weeks from early June to mid-July, when the alpine flowers are at their peak, this seasonal botanical garden offers a truly special experience. Located near the summit of Mt. Nishiyama (857m), it provides stunning views of Mt. Hakusan—one of Japan’s “Three Sacred Mountains,” along with Mt. Fuji and Mt. Tateyama.In the garden, you can admire around 50 varieties and 100,000 alpine plants in bloom. While enjoying the scenery, you can also savor a local rice ball (onigiri) bento filled with the rich flavors of the Hakusan foothills.

⏱ 1hShiramine – Important Preservation District for Traditional Buildings Visit the Shiramine district, located in one of Japan’s heaviest snowfall regions. Here, unique architectural styles developed to withstand the harsh winter climate have been carefully preserved and passed down through generations. Designated in 2012 by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs, this historic area offers a charming streetscape full of character and tradition.

⏱ 20 minWe will stop at the popular roadside station “Sena,” where you can enjoy shopping for local specialties and souvenirs. From well-known local products such as “Hakusan Hyakusen” to a wide variety of regional goods, you can experience the flavors and culture of the Hakusan area through its products.

- •The tour may be canceled depending on the opening status of the Hakusan Alpine Botanical Garden.
- •Vegetarian, vegan, and other special dietary requests cannot be accommodated for lunch.
- •Participants must be 6 years old or older. Children aged 0–5 are not permitted to join the tour.
- •There is about 10 minutes of climbing each way. Please climb at your own pace, slowly, and without exertion.
- •We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing suitable for hiking, clothing that does not expose skin to prevent insect bites, and shoes that will allow you to trek.
- •Please bring trekking poles, etc. if rossible.
- •If the weather is fine, lunch (onigiri bento) can be eaten on benches or tents in the Botanical Garden. Lunch box will be distributed in advance, Please take the distributed lunch boxes to the Botanical Garden by yourself. Also, please bring a leisure sheet, etc. if necessary. (In case of rain, lunch will be served in the Center House "Kamoshika".)
- •There are no restrooms in the Alpine Botanical Garden. Please use the restrooms in the Kamoshika Center House. (We will stop by the bus before climbing the mountain.)
- •In rainy weather, the trail can become slippery, so please watch your footing carefully. In addition, using an umbrella can be dangerous, so we recommend bringing and wearing a raincoat (rainwear).
- •There is about a 10-minute hike each way. This tour is not recommended for those who are unable to hike.
