A Traditional Tatami Room Dance by Sumiyoshi Shachu Kagoshima

Historically, Kagoshima women learned etiquette through tea ceremonies, shamisen playing, and dance before marriage. "Sumiyoshi Shachu" in Ichiki-Kushikino City remains the sole preserver of this traditional performing art from the Meiji era (circa 1870).
