Ghibli Park in Aichi: Tickets, Opening Hours, and What's Inside

Ghibli Park opened in Nagakute, Aichi in 2022. Here's everything you need to know: how to get tickets, what areas are open, and how to plan your visit.

Ghibli Park, which opened in November 2022 within Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park (Moricoro Park) in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, is the most ambitious Studio Ghibli attraction ever built. Unlike a conventional theme park, Ghibli Park in Aichi has no rides — instead it offers immersive walk-through environments, exhibition spaces, and woodland trails that recreate locations from beloved Ghibli films. The park is expanding progressively, with new areas opening through 2025 and beyond.

The Five Areas of Ghibli Park

The park is divided into distinct zones. Ghibli's Grand Warehouse is the largest area, containing reproductions of iconic film sets, a 480-seat cinema showing classic Ghibli shorts, and a huge merchandise shop. The Hill of Youth features the Antique Shop and Bakery from Howl's Moving Castle alongside a Teen's Room modeled on the interior from Whisper of the Heart. The Valley of Witches opened in 2024 and contains Kiki's bakery house, Howl's Moving Castle, and Yubaba's Bathhouse from Spirited Away.

Dondoko Forest recreates Satsuki and Mei's House from My Neighbor Totoro, set within real woodland that visitors can explore on foot. The surrounding Moricoro Park itself, a large nature reserve with trails, ponds, and open meadows, forms a fifth zone of the experience and is free to enter.

Tickets and Advance Booking

Ghibli Park requires advance tickets for all areas except the surrounding Moricoro Park nature trails. Tickets are sold via lottery on the Boo-Woo Ticket website, with new monthly lotteries opening on the 10th of each month for entry the following month. Overseas visitors can book via authorized international agencies including JTB and various online Japan travel platforms.

Ticket prices vary by area: Ghibli's Grand Warehouse costs 2,500 yen (adults) and 1,500 yen (children). Combination tickets for multiple areas are available and offer better value. The park is open Wednesday through Sunday plus holidays, closed Monday and Tuesday. Opening hours are typically 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Getting to Ghibli Park

Ghibli Park is located inside Moricoro Park in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, about 20 km east of Nagoya. From Nagoya Station, take the Higashiyama Subway Line to Fujigaoka Station (about 30 minutes), then transfer to the Linimo maglev train to Yakusa or Ai-Chikyu-Hakurankai-Kinen-Koen Station. The Linimo ride takes about 15 minutes and costs around 390 yen. The park entrance is a short walk from the station.

Plan a full day if you're visiting multiple areas. Bring lunch or plan to eat at the park's cafes, as Nagakute has limited dining options. Ghibli Park sits adjacent to the Toyota Museum and the 2005 World Expo memorial site, making it easy to combine with other Aichi attractions. The best time to visit is autumn when Moricoro Park's foliage creates a forest atmosphere that enhances the My Neighbor Totoro areas.
