Takayama Jinya was where 25 generations of provincial governor/magistrate performed their official duties relating to administration, policing and justice to rule Hida under the Shogunate over 176 years from 1692 (when Hida Province was put under the direct rule of the Edo Shogunate) to 1868.

Takayama's old town has been beautifully preserved with many buildings and whole streets of houses dating from the Edo Period (1600-1868) especially the Sannomachi Street, survives in a particularly pretty state with many old homes, shops, coffee houses and sake breweries, some of which have been in business for centuries.

World famous Shirakawago is a must see in Japan. You will feel like you are doing a time travel here. Japanese old tradition and unique Gassho zukuri houses still exist here. Photo shoot session by a professional photographer to capture your travel memories.
